Smitten. I am with Na Cragna. I was home all weekend with a kid with chicken pox and a husband travelling on business, so I was able to put in more knitting time than usual. Some crazy thoughts crept into my head, like "maybe I can finish this by Christmas?", and "maybe I should make 'Aranmore" for me?".
Some details: Pattern is Na Cragna from Aran Knitting. I am making the largest size for my husband. Yarn is Cascade 220 in color 4001, better represented on their website or in my last post. I purchased the yarn from PurlSoho when they had it on sale this summer (the sweater will cost about $45!). At the time, I wasn't sure about the color, but I think it will suit my husband perfectly. This is a great first cable project because the motifs are repeated every 4 or 8 rows, simple cable fronts and backs, and knitting and purling.
I know if I stick with this I could finish it for Christmas, but will I hit the wall? Will my wrists ache? Will I be able to keep up with all that the holiday season requires? Will my blog become about as exciting as watching paint dry?
It's really, really beautiful MB. No wonder you can't stop working on it. I'm so impressed!

What a lovely sweater with such great texture and design. The yarn is one of the best worsted out there. It looks so uniform and beautiful. You inspire!

It looks great. I don't think I could stick with just one project--I would have to have something little inbetween. I was knitting on St. Brigid today and it was hurting my hands but I don't think I have recovered from Gracie's poncho. BTW, thanks for the vaseline advice. Another mom from Owen's school said that is what the nurse uses and Greta gave a good idea too. Knit on...and I hope the chicken pox child is feeling better. Oatmeal baths. :)

Tune in next week for "How Na Cragna's Cables Turn!" Go! Go! Go!

Oh, I don't know, paint drying seems to be interesting. Watching the colors subtly change from dark to light, or vice versa. NOT! Love the Na Craga. Just let it flow, don't push it. That's when the knitting starts to rebel.

Okay, so when you first blogged about this sweater I took a quick look at the photo and thought, Wow! I want to knit that one. Then I took a closer look. I AM knitting that one! Well I was about 5 years ago or so. Must.Finish.Na.Craga! Keep steady the course, man! Finish that baby by Christmas and put this knitter to shame!

Your site is never boring as watching paint dry. I have faith in you that you can finish it by Christmas. Your husband will *love, love, LOVE* it!

The yarn may cost US$45 but with the time and love put into it, I should say this sweater is priceless! Hope your kid will get well soonest.

Looking good, Mary Beth. Maybe you can hope to get the chicken pox yourself so you have some extra knitting time. Did you see that someone else is making Na Cragna, too:

You should compare notes with her.

Gorgeous! I think we're all smitten! I'm using Cascade 220 for St. Brigid and I love, love, love it!

That's about how much I did on Na Crage (Cascade 220). Really pops out doesn't it? I'm enjoying knitting it. I am going to start again 'cause I have a few wonky areas on the ribbing...only problem is, I can't quite remember how to follow the rib instructions (new knitter). No biggy. I'll keep tryin'.
