Kim posed the following question in per post today: "If you could knit anything you want, unlimited by money or time, what would it be?"
It just so happens that I had just cast on Na Cragna a couple days ago. It is my dream knit! The pattern is beautifully written, with no mysterious instructions open to interpretation. I have made a couple minor errors which were easily corrected by "unknitting" down. The cabling is deceptively simple - very rich looking but using easy techniques. No cable needle needed - a big bonus for me because I prefer not to use one.
I must thank Katy for going to all that trouble to knit one of these up in Cascade 220 just to show me how perfect this yarn is for this sweater. Plus, she took that long trip to Rhinebeck to show me in person! Thanks Katy! This yarn is soft but substantial and the cables really pop.
Not convinced? Check out Sandy's gorgeous Inishmore in a beautiful heathery blue Cascade 220. By the way, notice how similar my photo is to hers? (I'm such a Sandy-wannabee.)
Kim's question came at a time when I have been a bit "stash bound", so I must admit I didn't really close my eyes and try to imagine no limits - anything is possible. I'm sure, without much straining, I could come up with quite a list, like, say, this, this or this. But in the meantime, it is quite satisfying to be working on something so pleasurable while keeping my promise to myself to stick to the stash!
Happy Dreaming Everyone!
All your dream projects are beautiful! AND, I'm knitting one of them! I picked AS sweater (any really) for my dream project, too. Cascade 220 is such a fabulous yarn. I'm tempted by so many Aran styles and want to use it. JUST TOO MANY great projects out there!

Lovely lovely dreams. I am up to bat for a new project and I think cables and cascade are calling me also. Have a nice weekend MB.

All such beautiful patterns!! I'm contemplating using Cascade for Rogue.

Na Craga looks terrific. The color is fantastic. I may have to knit another in a color like that someday...once I get through with St. Brigid. I am using the Jameison Soft Shetland and I guess it must soften after a wash...it's not as soft as Cascade.

That's beautiful. I really like that color and it shows up well in the photo. (Why doesn't that happen when I photograph dark colored WIP's?) I'm finishing the sleeves for Rogue, and while I'm glad to be almost done with them, that was the last cabled project I had on the needles. I think the next thing I start will have to have cables so that I can keep my sanity.

Off to a splendid start. I don't like wishbone cables, and have often thought about what I would substitute for them if I attempted this sweater, but somehow you make them look really good! :-) Maybe it's the beautiful color...

I love Cascade 220 too. It is such a great yarn. I wonder how the superwash is? The Cascade Tweed on knitpicks has been calling out to me. I need to stop looking at it.

Oh, Na Craga in Cascade 220! Good choice! It is stunning already! (and you pose your na craga like mine and I pose my peacock mittens like yours. It's a mutual admiration society! :)
I see you are using markers. Good.
And St. Aula! OH! I am in looove! :)Thanks for dreaming!

I'm loving that Na Craga. I think that is the same color of Cascade that I used in my first felted bag. I was IN LOVE with it - so rich and deep. St. Aula takes my breath away. It is frighteningly far away from my ability right now, but still!

Your Na Craga is beautiful. And, why didn't I think to use stitch markers on mine? THAT is why you are the knitting guru and I am a wannabe!
Maybe after I finish BPT I'll pull out my husband's languishing Na Craga and join you.

I think we should get a picture of you & Sandy in your Na Craga and Inishmore--they're both beautiful!
That incredible garden shawl has made me weak in the knees....!
