Swim team is a big focus in our house in the early weeks of summer. That's Maddy, taking a leap into Candlewood Lake at the first meet of our local pool season. We are "pool" swimmers - in other words, our kids are total wimps when it comes to squishy bottoms and mysterious floating stuff in the water. Luckily, we only have one or two "pond" meets over the course of the season.
Maddy swims year round for the Wilton Wahoos, which is much more competitive than our summer squad. If you ever get a chance to read Katie.com, by Katherine Tarbox, you will get a glimpse of what competitive swimming is like in the life of a 13 year old.
My favorite days with swimming are with the little guys. Just seeing them get so excited to race, and watching their strokes develop is about the sweetest thing ever. Joey is so serious about his swimming...that's him leading his age group out to the dock for their first race.

I have really enjoyed taking a break from blogging. It was just one less thing on my to-do list, at an extremely busy time of year. In the past few months, most of my knitting has been contract work which I can't share anyway, so the timing was perfect. As these projects wrap up, I'm feeling refreshed and ready to come home to my own knitting and blogging again.
