A friend sent me some lovely brown hand-spun that's just perfect for a ZigZag Lace Scarf. I guess she thought it would be funny to tie the beginning of the skein to the end...or maybe that's something clever that all good spinners do... so that when I went to wind it up, I saw the little knot and just thought it was part of the skein, not the beginning and end.
For days I searched in that skein for the free strand to wind it up. Poking, pulling, cursing and fretting! Not going to cut it, no way. It must be here somewhere! Eventually, I untied the knot and it wound up perfectly, without a single interruption. Drat!
Reminded me of when my daughter and my nieces secretly replaced all the rolls in the house with these...

The dreaded prank rolls...they have no beginning...you just keep trying to get the roll started but it's impossible. That was just SO funny.
handspun seems to be popping up everywhere lately. it looks so cushy and soft. very nice pattern choice!
the paper towel story reminds me of the joke i played on my dad for one of his birthdays. we bought a roll that was printed with...uhm...tasteless bathroom humor. he was as amused as you were!

Great scarf you have started!! You had a great learning experience with the yarn. As for toilet paper, my tp stories are about my daughter, as a baby in her little walking/rolling cart, going into the bathroom, and pulling the tp all over the house, laughing!!

Do you feel the urge to start spinning yourself calling you? I keep feeling the urge, but I am afraid to add one more addiction to my already hectic life! I don't hink I will be able to resist for long, though. How does it feel to knit with the handspun?

Ha! Making a figure 8 around the skein with the ends of the skein and tying them together is pretty common. Was this just plain old tied together? That would have befuddled me, as well.
The scarf looks lovely in that yarn. I wish I could spin fast enough to make yarn for everything I want to knit!

Bathroom humour usually only appeals to men- I can see you laughing through gritted teeth.
The scarf is wonderful- great pattern.

OMG where can I get those toilet paper rolls? The handspun I found I can make my freakin self - I had an entire bobbin full and tucked the end for handy storage and could not find the end - HAD.TO.CUT
