From one skein of Mountain Colours, first I made these....
With the yarn leftover, a pair for baby...
Still, some left, Christmas ornament...
'nother ornament...
Left to right, Ladies Bankers Socks (Mountain Colours Pattern), Baby Ribbed Socks (Yankee Knitters Pattern), Christmas Ornaments (Last-Minute Knittted Gifts). One Skein Mountain Colours and Size 2 DPNs - see the leftover?
Mountain Colors now gets added to my list of favorite yarns! It is silky soft, there was no pooling and what a great value at 350 yds to a 4 oz. skein.

Wow! Do you have to give it all to the yarn shop? Fantastic job Mary Beth!

How do you like the Banker's sock pattern? It looks simple and perfect for multi-colored yarn. I think my LYS has it in kit form so I may run over and get it.

WOW!! I love the little pink flecks. i might have to get some of that yarn.
Did you decide what to do for the graduation gift??

Oh, Mountain colors is one of my favorites!! All time! :)
This reminds me of a book that my kids used to love. Hmm. Can't remember the name, though, but it was about people that got a Christmas tree that was too big and lopped off the top and threw it out. Bears found it and took it, used it, lopped off the top because it was too tall. It keeps going down to a mouse using the discarded top. IT's so cute. Wish I could remember the name of it!
:)

What a great idea for a post...to show exactly what you get from one skein. And all the projects are winners!

There's nothing in the world like Mountain Colors. :-) I'm trying to figure out what colorway you used, though... is it Mystic Lake?

Wow, youve been busy. Making a "sweater" and 2 and half pair of socks. I want to be like you! :-)
Thank you for your thoughful response to my post. I agree, I did not have the opportunity to read the context of the passage you quoted. But "I" still would prefer to see the work force adapt to the needs of the employer or stay out of the work place. I am all for accomodating, and love to hear about companies that do it. But ultimately, I do not think employers should HAVE to adapt for OUR family schedules. Kerstin made a great comment, on my blog, about the lack of equality at home. That's where I think it needs to start. Men need to step up to the plate at home and adapt to the family's changing needs. Then maybe the wife won't have to be the Super Mom/Career Woman/Perfect Mate. Maybe then she can make the choice she wants, instead of being stuck where she doesn't want to be.

I love it when I have no yarn leftover! You put every inch of that wonderful stuff to great use. You are an inspiration. So now if I have some leftover from the FBS, I could maybe find something to do with it.

Now aren't you glad I sent that bag back? :) That really is a great value and I *do* love their colors. I'm knitting mini sweaters with my leftovers, too. Who only knows what I'll do with them, but they sure are cute!

Aren't you industrious? Great projects, and great yarn.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Christmas books -- Mr. Willoughby's Christmas Tree. The tree is just a wee bit too big, so the top keeps getting lopped off and discarded, but someone always finds it and eventually it's all used up and everyone has a "perfect" tree.

I'm in love with Mountain Colors, too. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I die every time I see their OWN description of it as "a good basic yarn." Hello? It's AWESOME, and they're really selling themselves short. It's just SO SOFT and lovely to work with!

What fun you've been having! Everything looks great. I'll have to try that yarn.

Great information to know. I'm planning on making baby socks with my left over sock yarn. Question though on average how long does it take you to knit a pair of socks, and do you work on anything else during the time you knit on the socks.

I love Mountain Colors, too. Did you use Bearfoot? The Weaver's Wool makes great socks, too. Love all the socks and other things you got from one skein...that's too cool (and frugle!).

You are so cool! Everyone will be doing that collective "awwwwwww" when they see the wee things. I need to go stash diving for some Mountain Colors I have.

I see we think alike. I've been knitting a great many socks lately.

I'm impressed! Good way to use leftovers. I love Mountain Colors too! I have a pattern for a vest that I want to make . . . someday!

WOW!!! so much from one skein!!
Posted by:Kim | May 03, 2005 at 06:40 PM
Ok. So....... that means I actually have to knit with the stuff I have? I'm going to have to sit down and think about that for a few.

Bearfoot makes wonderful socks. They're so warm and soft and squishy! It's one of my favorite yarns, period. I have a skein set aside for some gloves for me. Mmm.
